As a third-generation Hospice (Gen3) we have a strategic leadership role to see and understand what is ‘on and beyond our sector’s horizon’; to see what others do not yet see.
One of our core strategic goals from 2023 to 2030 is to contribute to the well-being of people and planet. To ensure the success of this goal we set up a small team to kickstart our People and Planet project.
Since the implementation of our project in September 2022, we have accomplished the following milestones:
Removed 106 mixed bins and swapped them for 5 waste stations around The Hub-These stations include a: Recycling bin, Compost bin, General waste bin and Paper bins
Selected our People & Planet Mascot: Mr Ted
Leased 10 Electric vehicles to add to our fleet
Implemented numerous process changes to reduce our printing
Created a digital bi-monthly internal People & Planet Newsletter
Swapped to compostable coffee cups and cutlery in our Aroha Eatery
Started a small produce garden to help provide for our kitchen
Held several internal challenges and competitions to promote sustainability
