Totara Hospice applied for funding to the Harcourts Foundation for a Shekel Digital Chair Scale. A chair scale is a wheelchair with an integrated weighing scale. It allows patients who are unable to stand, to be weighed quickly, easily and with minimum discomfort. The Shekel Digital Chair Scale features movement compensation technology and can weigh patients up to 300kg.
Patients are weighed as part of their medical care. The clinical team will take a patient’s blood pressure, heart rate and weight for their medical records. At Totara Hospice our vision is to honour living and dignify dying. Sometimes due to the challenges that patients face, some patients feel uncomfortable doing tasks as simple as getting weighed because they don’t want to feel the embarrassment of them not being able to do so. Thanks to Harcourts Blue Rock Realty Ltd, (Harcourts Papakura and Karaka) we are now able to eliminate these challenges, and transfer patients safely to and from the scale and get accurate results.
Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou – A big thank you to you all
